Description: Catherine (the heroine) heads from her rural country home to Bath, where she enjoys society and makes friends with a man whom she's quite interested in. Will she end up with him? Or will the formalities of 18th century society get in the way?
Thoughts: This is classic Jane Austen writing: lighthearted, easy to read, engaging, romantic, and critical of society in general. I really enjoyed the story and the writing for the most part, but in my opinion this doesn't compare to Austen's more famous works like Pride and Prejudice or Emma. Still, if you're in the mood for some Jane Austen, Northanger Abbey was a good, if not great, book.
