Description: A biography of Meriwether Lewis, of Lewis and Clark fame. Of course, the majority of the book focuses on the famous expedition across the continent, but it also gives a history of Lewis' life before and after his famous journey.
Thoughts: This is one of those history books that reads like a novel. Ambrose is a really great writer (similar to David McCullough), and this description of the Lewis and Clark expedition was incredibly fascinating for me. Can you imagine leaving on a expedition for which you have no idea where you are going, how long it will take you, what Indians you will meet, what physical obstacles you might face, or how you will get food and water? How do you even know what to pack? I really enjoyed reading this one and learning how this incredible expedition actually made it to the Pacific and back, and how the leadership of Lewis and Clark made it happen. Highly recommended.

Thanks to Katie for the recommendation, and Dan for providing the audiobook for me!
