Title: Speaker for the Dead
Author: Orson Scott Card
Genre: Science Fiction
Pages: 416
Rating (out of 5 stars): ***1/2
Reviewed by: Ben
Description: Number two in the "Ender" series, this book tells the story of what happens to Ender following the great battle. It is mostly about Ender's quest to redeem himself for having completely destroyed an entire alien race.
Thoughts: So, my co-worker lent me this one as well, and since I enjoyed Ender's Game I went ahead and read it. Overall, I enjoyed Speaker more than book 1, mostly because I think the characters in this novel are richer and drive the plot more. There is less action, but a lot more mystery, which suits my taste. While there is a heavy dose of sci-fi, this doesn't really drive the plot at all. As with Ender's Game, Speaker for the Dead gets the extra half-star for just being great storytelling.
Disclaimer: None.
